My Approach

My Approach:

Joanna is an Integrative counsellor This involves the bringing together of different counselling approaches to suit the particular needs of a client at a given time. I mainly integrate three types of therapy, that is

  • Person Centred Counselling – This type of counselling is also know as Client Centred therapy. It is a humanistic approach that focues on the clients own internal abilities/resources that they have to overcome their issues. This type of counselling focuses on removing blockages that may be prevent an individual from overcoming their issues.
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy – This type of counselling focuses on how an individual thinks about a situation and how this affects the way we act and behave.
  • Psychodynamic Counselling – This type of therapy focuses on the unconscious processes that may going on in relation to a problem/issue and how they are impacting us in our everyday lives. Helping the client to unravel, experience and understand their issues and their root cause can assist in the process of beginning to resolve them.

Each session is therefore tailored to suit the individual needs of each client.
